JoAnn and I shared a very close friendship throughout high school, college and for years afterward. In a real sense we grew up as teenagers and young adults together. Thanks to her parents, Josie and Zeke, Joanne‘s house was always open to all of her friends. In fact, I believe that for years we would all go to the 10 o’clock mass on Sunday and have breakfast at JoAnne‘s house! Joanne was a wonderful, kind, enthusiastic friend. She and I begin our teaching careers together, in different schools. As new, young teachers, we shared our successes and failures, and we learned a great deal from each other. For certain, I learned a great deal from Joann! As time,
And life, went on we pursued separate projects, and separate goals and dreams. I am most sincerely hope that Joanne had a wonderful, joyful, and rewarding life. She certainly gave that, and much more, to everyone she worked with and she gave all that and more to her family and friends. I honestly and truly believe that she is enjoying her heavenly reward right now, and I pray that she blesses and guides all of us.

Joann was my Godmother and cousin. The memories of growing up, spending Sundays and holidays at her house with the whole Damiano crew are my favorite memories. I’m so grateful and blessed to have been a part of that family. I wish that life didn’t take us so far away from that and one another, I know we will all be together again one day. Until then, RIP cousin. Much love and my deepest condolences to my family. ❤️

I remember Sister JoAnn so well from St. William the Abbott Religious Education program when my son was a student. She was understanding and helpful whenever I needed to reach out to her. Sister JoAnn was also a friendly face wishing us a good week as we left mass. I missed her when she left our parish. May she rest in everlasting peace.

The parish that Sr JoAnn and I did ministry together was Our Lady of Peace, not Our Lady of Peach. Sorry.

I was sad to hear of Sr. JoAnn’s passing. Sr. JoAnn was a large part of my spiritual journey. She and I did many projects at Our Lady of Peach parish during her time there. She was instrumental ,along with our pastor , in giving me the confidence I needed to put myself out there in many areas of parish ministry. Since both of us are strong minded women and we didn’t always agree, it made for an interesting and productive dynamic which I feel sure was pleasing to Our Lord. One last thought, JoAnn labored over the Holy Week “ binders”. Everything was in it and there was a binder for everyone. It is fitting that she rest this Holy Week basking in the glory of her Lord. Rest in peace JoAnn and thank you for all I learned from you. Jane Grogan

In this sad time of her passing, I want everyone to know what a profound affect she has had on my life and so many others. She was my leader, my spiritual guide, my mentor, but most importantly my friend. Her honesty, integrity, intelligence, faithfulness, sense of humor, and warmth will be greatly missed in my life and others. She always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. When we went to see her at the hospital, I knew it would be my last time with her for now until we meet again in heaven. I thanked her for being such a big part of who I am today and told her I loved her and she made me promise to come back on a better day when she was feeling better. I truly loved her, and I am glad she is no longer in pain and that she is with Jesus but her presence here on earth will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to everyone that loved her ❤️ Suzanne Gates

It is with the heaviest of hearts I offer my sincerest condolences to the family of Sr. Jo Ann … my Angel on this earth .
With her devout faith … her wit and wisdom in all things … her candor … her pure and simple love of Jesus and the Blessed Mother , she taught me how to speak to God … how to really pray.
Her prayer for me at the conclusion of each our times together brought me to tears … and carried my shattered spirit for months thereafter.
I will miss and love her forever .
I truly believe she will now watch over me from heaven.
I will pray to and for her each and every day .
Rest in peace my dear and beautiful friend.
All my love and gratitude forever.

She was a mentor, a friend and an inspiration to me. Her time at St William's in Seaford was a blessing to our community. There will always be a piece of my heart that is missing but I know that she is with our Lord and watching out for everyone, whose life she touched. Rest In Eternal Peace dear sweet Sister JoAnn.
