Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, on June 25, 2023 you will gather to remember and celebrate the life of Marilyn Hangen, a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many as a New York Girl, a beloved mother, a lifelong teacher, and a respected Principal. Marilyn's legacy of love, care, and dedication will forever live on in the lives she touched and the memories she created.
Marilyn was not only a teacher, but an educator who instilled knowledge and wisdom in the minds of countless children. Her passion for teaching knew no bounds, and she had the unique ability to capture the attention and admiration of her students. With her guidance, she nurtured young minds and inspired them to reach for the stars, instilling in them a love for learning that would stay with them for a lifetime. Her teaching peers always had the highest professional opinion of her work and dedication and considered her a friend, not just a coworker.
As a Mother, Marilyn's love knew no bounds. She poured her heart and soul into raising her two children, Devin and Carrie, providing them with a nurturing and loving environment. Marilyn's unwavering support and belief in her children's potential shaped them into the individuals they are today. Her love and guidance will forever be etched in their hearts, and her legacy will live on through them.
Marilyn had a deep affection for animals, especially dogs and cats. She welcomed these furry companions into her life, showering them with endless love and care. Marilyn's compassion extended not only to her own pets but also to the animals she encountered along the way. Her kindness and gentle touch reminded us of the importance of showing love to all creatures, great and small.
Beyond her roles as a teacher and a mother, Marilyn embraced life's little pleasures. She had a keen eye for antiquing, appreciating the beauty and stories behind each vintage piece she discovered. Her love for art was a reflection of her own creativity. Marilyn's appreciation for the finer things in life extended to her fancy cars in her youth, especially a Ford convertible she had in her college days, a symbol of her zest for adventure and the freedom she embraced.
Marilyn was a woman of contrasts, tough as nails when needed, but a softy and sentimentalist most of the time. Her firmness came from a place of dedication and commitment to her students' success. She set high expectations, knowing the potential that lay within each child, and she pushed them to achieve greatness. Yet, beneath her strength, there was a heart overflowing with compassion, warmth, and empathy. Marilyn had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, and her caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Today, as we bid farewell to Marilyn, let us remember her as a beacon of light in our lives. She was a New York Girl with a big heart, a Mother who showered her children with love, a lifelong teacher who shaped the minds of future generations, and a Principal who commanded respect and admiration. She leaves behind a profound impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May we carry Marilyn's spirit within us, spreading love, knowledge, and compassion in our own lives. Let us honor her memory by cherishing the lessons she taught us and by embracing the qualities that made her so extraordinary. Though she may be physically gone, her legacy will forever guide us, reminding us of the power of a caring heart and the profound influence of an educator.
Today, as we say our final goodbyes, let us celebrate Marilyn's life and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Marilyn. Your light will shine on through the countless lives you've touched, and your spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.
Rest in Peace
JOHN
