Obituary of Theodore Manara

Born and raised in Inwood, NY, Ted grew up playing for the Inwood Buccaneers. He later attended Lawrence High School, where he played Golden Tornadoes Football. He also grew up loving the game of Softball and spent a majority of his weekends playing in multiple double-headers.

Teddy was a Navy Veteran, and also played Softball for the Navy, when being stationed in Naples, Italy. He was later inducted into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame. He's a Colon Cancer Survivor who also battled, both Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's Diseases.

He devoted tons of his time volunteering in the community. He helped start Bellmore-Merrick Youth Association (BMYA) for Braves Football, Girls Cheerleading, and Girls Fast-Pitch Softball. He later help develop, BMYA Roller Hockey, which later became, Bellmore-Merrick Roller Hockey (BMRH). BMRH is still around today, and currently in it's 44th Year.

It didn't stop there. Teddy coached Girls Softball, and In the late 80's, he took the BMYA Girls Softball Team to the Nationals.

For several years, he coached Youth Football for these organizations:
- BMYA Braves
- Seaford Broncos
- Levittown Red Devils

For 3 Summers, he was a Coaching Instructor for the New Yorks Jets Football Camp, held at CW Post. Ted also coached Junior High School Football for the Grand Avenue Middle School Braves.

Teddy worked in Parks and Recreation, for the Town of Hempstead and helped manage Newbridge Rd. Park and Baldwin Park. He always made sure that all the ballfields were ready for both League and Tournament action.

During retirement, Ted lived with his son David. You could catch him soaking in the summer sun, watching movies, tv shows, and his favorite sports teams; New York Yankees, New York Rangers, and New York Jets. Teddy loved Sports Talk Radio and when he wasn't listening to WFAN, he was blasting his favorite Frankie Vallie and Frank Sinatra tunes. Teddy loved Pizza and Italian Food but you can never forget about his favorite Chinese Food dishes.

Ted will now join his wife, Maxine in heaven, while leaving behind his sons, Michael and David, his daughter in law, Jennifer, and his grandchildren, Gianna and Francesca.

Visitation will be Friday, July 26th from 4-7pm and Saturday, July 27th from 4-7pm at C.S. Bartholomew & Son, Inc., 302 S. Bedford Ave., Bellmore.

Navy Military Honors will be rendered, Saturday, July 27th at 5:45pm with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home.

Private disposition.

Funeral service and military honors will be rendered in the funeral home, date and time is pending.
