Varon, Jack C., 90, of Bellmore on May 14, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Marion. Loving companion of Hilda. Devoted father of Janice Doscher and Mark Varon (Donna). Dear brother of Kay Meyers and the late Esther Weiss and Celia Ettinger. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Retired N.Y.P.D. Deputy Inspector of the 113th Precinct, who received four departmental citations for outstanding police performance during his career. Former U.S. Marine who received the Purple Heart and Presidential Unit Citation for wounds received in combat against the Japanese during the capture of Iwo Jima. Visiting hours Tuesday 11am-1pm at C.S. Bartholomew and Son, 302 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore. Military Honors at funeral home. Private family burial at Old Montefiore, Springfield Gardens-Queens, N.Y.
