Today we laid to rest my moms younger brother. It was unexpected and so very sad. My Uncle Fred was a simple man. He was the kind of guy who was always there in the background. He spent his whole life within a 10 mile radius of where he grew up in Bellmore. He loved loved loved going to church and volunteered at St Barnabas in the food pantry. Uncle Fred was the kind of person who always sent a card. Getting a card in the mail is a little bit of a lost art, and getting them from him on every holiday including the small ones always made me smile. He was always with us for holidays except this past year due to COVID. It didn’t feel right without him and if I knew that 2019 would be the last round we’d spend together I would’ve spent more time at the table with him. One person who always embraced my Uncle Fred even with all his quirkiness was my husband. When he saw my Uncle around town, he would pull his car over and say hi. When Rob was in the neighborhood and hit up church, he would sit with my Uncle Fred. I know that kindness meant the world to him. It did to me. I last spoke with him at Christmas and my babies got to wish him a Merry Christmas over the phone. He always wore flannel shirts and my daughter dubbed her flannel shirt her “uncle Fred shirt”.
This is how I want to remember my Uncle Fred, at the holidays eating his way through the appetizer table and quietly ranting about the latest conspiracy theory he was thinking of in his favorite flannel shirt.
May you Rest In Peace and finally be happy with the rest of the family wherever the afterlife takes us.

Fred was a dear friend of my sibling’s,Tony and the late Fran Walsh for over 25 !years. Because of his friendship with them he became an adopted family member of our Family and was particularly loving to our mother after our father!s death. Fran was the best friend of Debbie Horan, Fred’s partner and cherished companion for many years. He was very much loved by all of us and attended many of our get together’s. May He Rest In Peace and may perpetual shine upon him. He will be missed and our prayers are with all of You. Sincerely - Anthony, Kathleen (Brand}, Maureen, Patricia (Belger), and Anne Walsh,

You will be truly missed, my friend! You were a very kind soul. I will always remember our Dunkin Donuts chats. You enjoyed the simple things in life. All you needed was just a friend to listen and you were content. Hope they are serving DD coffee for you up there in Heaven! Rest in Peace, AMIGO!

I met Fred about 1 1/2 years ago. We would hang out at the laundromat and have a Dunkin Donuts coffee and talk about old times at the Post office.,High school year's and the like. He was my new found friend. He was a terrific guy and a good friend whom I will miss dearly. God bless Fred enjoy Heaven with Jesus.

Fred was a good man, always honest and reliable. We have been friends for over 40 years and I always look forward to our annual meet up, which was postponed this year due to the pandemic! Gone too soon! He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
